Biography
Jodie Foster is one of American cinema’s most respected and enduring sapphic talents, with a career spanning six decades. She began as a child actor, appearing in television commercials before making the leap to film in the early 1970s. Her breakout dramatic role came at just 13 years old, playing a young sex worker in Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver (1976), a performance that earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress and cemented her as a serious dramatic talent.
Foster went on to become a two-time Academy Award winner for Best Actress, for her roles in The Accused (1988) and The Silence of the Lambs (1991) — the latter performance, as FBI trainee Clarice Starling, remains one of the most iconic in film history. She paused her acting career in the mid-1980s to attend Yale University, graduating with a degree in literature.
